Several years ago I sat on the floor of my living room staring at a blank canvas. I had no idea what to paint, but I had been admiring galaxies recently and decided to just go for it. I didn’t pull out any references, I didn’t really have a plan in mind, I just started painting. For the next several hours I blended and played with a rainbow of colors and ultimately created my very first galaxy painting. I was immediately in love.
Since that time I have created quite the collection of galaxy paintings, and have created three distinct series of galaxy-related things.
The first is my Galaxy Girl Collection. As someone who has worked in the salon industry for the last four years and has been practically obsessed with hair most of my life, I was fascinated with the concept of creating a girl whose hair was made from galaxy.
The second is a collaboration I did with Nine19 Photography. It was called The Stardust Collection, and we are currently seeking a place to release the collection. If you know of anywhere that would be interested in featuring a diversity-inspired body paint/photography collaboration, hit me up.
The third is more of a goal than a collection as of now. That goal being to paint a galaxy on as many different things as possible. I have a list that spans from stairs to the bottom of a pool to a horse jump, but so far I have stuck to Converse sneakers. If you have anything, anything at all, that you would love to have painted with a galaxy, let’s talk. I would love to cross something new off of my galaxy list!
